Who we are
The Young Adult group at Shaughnessy Heights is an active and growing ministry in our church. We range in age from 18 to 35 and encompass people at various stages of life. This includes recent high school graduates, those establishing their careers and new parents with young families. Although we are a diverse group, what unites us is the common yearning to take ownership of our faith journey and to explore how our Christian identities will inform our lives. We do this in a supportive community that makes space for difficult questions and allows for a diversity of opinions.
What we do
Members of our young adult group participate in a number of activities in the church, including volunteering in the children and youth programs, singing in the choir, and contributing their time to Mission and Outreach activities. We also meet at least once a month for special events just for young adults. Last year these events included pub nights, movies, and skating at Robson Square, as well as bible study sessions and a weekend retreat.
How to join
You do not need to be a member of our church to participate in young adult activities! All are welcome to join. We also encourage individuals to take on leadership roles. If there is an activity you would like to see for young adults that is not currently offered or a particular passion that you would like to share with the group, you can contact our Program Animator, Meghan Pritchard, to discuss ways in which the church can support your leadership.
A monthly e-mail keeps everyone informed about what is coming up and highlights opportunities for further involvement. If you are interested in learning more about the Young Adult group, or if you would like to be added to the e-mail list, please contact Meghan Pritchard, at email@example.com.
