Sunday Worship

We invite you to gather with us on Sunday morning at 10:00 am for weekly Worship.

Worship at Shaughnessy Heights United is a joyous, spirit filled time of community where we praise God and learn to grow in the Way of Jesus. We love to gather, sing, pray, laugh and learn! When we worship we fall open to new attitudes, new possibilities, and new ways of loving. As an Affirming Ministry of the United Church of Canada we are always growing in our understanding of welcome and hospitality. As a community of Jesus we wish to honour the many intersections that shape our personal identities: race, colour, sexual orientation, gender, socio-economic status, age and ability.

In our weekly worship you will find:

  • Excellent music offered by our Sanctuary choir and our Ministers of Choral and Instrumental Music. Our music is varied and inclusive, featuring a wide variety of hymns, anthems and instrumental pieces from: European church choral traditions, jazz, folk and contemporary genres and composers who reflect diverse global perspectives and traditions with particular emphasis on works by women, the Queer community, and Black, Brown and Indigenous peoples.
  • A time in each service where the minister learns with children. Children and babies are welcome through our whole service; and on the 4th Sunday of the month we offer a church school for children in the chapel next to our Sanctuary. At SHUC we honour and respect children and we are ready to implement further children’s ministry when the need arises.
  • Reading from Scripture and community prayers which inform our discipleship and service in the world
  • Engaged preaching that is lively, current and engaging.
  • An online congregation connected through the wonders of Live Broadcast on our YouTube channel

After-Worship Fellowship

Connection and community are at the heart of life here at Shaughnessy Heights United Church. After worship, come and get to know us over a cup of fresh coffee and some baked goods in our Hall.

Faith exploration and big ideas are a major part of life here at SHUC, so we often schedule ‘Second Hour’ talks given by speakers on an array of topics ranging from health and wellness to world issues.

Several people stand between pews in a church during a service.
